Hook Norton Community Land Trust
2023 Annual General Meeting Notes

We were pleased to welcome 14 of our members and 6 non-members at our recent 2023 AGM at Hook Norton Brewery. A big thanks to those who were unable to make it and sent their apologies, which were noted in the minutes. A lot has happened in the last year and you can find out the details in the minutes by clicking this link.

The project has made huge progress and you can find HNCLT's Chair's Report and presentation here.

We were delighted to welcome Fran Ryan, a founder member of Oxfordshire Community Land Trust, who gave an inspiring and informative account of their recent successful community share raise. Fran's presentation can be found here.  (notes can be viewed here)

We were also thrilled to welcome Ian Pritchett, Growth & Innovation Director, and Co-founder of Greencore Homes.  Greencore are our Design and Build partners and Ian did a fantastic job of placing the affordable housing project into the context of climate change.  Ian's presentation can be found here, (notes can be viewed here).

HNCLT would like to say a huge thanks to our speakers, members and attendees for taking part at the AGM. Thanks to our speakers for inspiring presentations and for making the journey to Hooky, and thanks to our attendees for participating in the discussion with thoughtful and perceptive questions.

Hook Norton Community Land Trust
2022 Annual General Meeting Notes

Hook Norton Community Land Trust (HNCLT) would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our AGM at the Brewery on 13 September 2022. It was our first in-person AGM and proved to be a lively event with lots of engagement and a great Q&A session.

We had a fantastic group of speakers that covered the design, technical and human aspects of the project. Charlie Luxton talked us through the latest designs for the scheme. Craig Strachan from Greencore Construction explained the timber frame panel system of building sustainable homes and brought along a sample with Lime Hemp and wood-fibre insulation. Local artist, Rachel Cronin, gave us a personal, funny and very moving account of why affordable homes are needed here in Hooky.

We celebrated the end of a year which culminated in our Section 106 agreement, (which sets out the terms of the agreement between HNCLT and the local planning authority) being signed and sealed by all parties, and the land for the community housing project was successfully transferred from Cherwell District Council to HNCLT. Now that we have ownership of the land, we are able to make progress with the funding and pre-development arrangements for the construction of the homes and community facilities.

We are building 8 homes for affordable rent and 4 homes that will be for sale at market value. If you, or anyone you know, would like to live in one of the 8 homes available to rent, it is important that you join the Cherwell District Housing Register, as soon as possible. The homes will be allocated to people in housing need who have a local connection to the parish of Hook Norton, as set out in the Neighbourhood Plan.

Preparation work has already begun on the site and we’re very grateful to the Sports & Social Club for allowing temporary access via their car parking area.
